MORE great Golds for Inverawe

Gold Award Great Taste, Guild of Fine Food Retaillers Gold award

Inverawe has wone three new Great Taste Award Golds for our finest smoked fish products. Check out the website for more details. Here are some of the Judges comments…..

“Beautifully translucent and silky looking salmon with a lovely pale natural colour. One receives a good hit of smoke on the nose and on the palate but the smoking does not mask the good quality fish. It has a really good mouthfeel. There is a good balance to the smoke, and the flavour really develops in the mouth and lingers on the palate.”

Beautiful rose pink coloured salmon. Slices very well. Lovely sweet smokiness. Tender but firm salmon with a slight salty/sweet dimension. Delicious.

A nice looking piece of fish with a great colour. It has a lovely aroma from smoking, but is actually much heavier than the smoked flavour that we found in the fish. We enjoyed the moist texture, which wasn’t too oily.

The swings are being dismantled, to be replaced over the winter with a fabulous play area which will be ready forThe Play Area the 2013 season.

Watch this space and in the meantime why not share your memories of the old swings and slide with us.

I can’t believe that the young grandson I pushed is a big strapping lad who is going off to university  next year!  Did you push your kids in the baby swings?  Were you brave enough to stand up on the big swings or did your granny and granddad take you on the swings when you were wee?

HMS Inverawe set for Lily Loch launch

Friday, April 8th, 2011

We thought you might like to see what Robert has been up to in his spare time!

This superb raft – designed and crafted together with Dennis and Oscar the dog – will soon be launched on Inverawe’s Lily Loch. Initially she will chug about cutting back the lily growth and making the loch more fishing-friendly. When that job is done she’ll be used to provide disabled access to the loch for anglers. It’s time to think of a name for her. Any ideas?

The heaviest fish on record this year has been landed at Inverawe recently. Congratulations to Donald McClarty who caught the 19.5lb rainbow trout whopper at the Hydro Loch.

Here’s our fishing expert Phil White yesterday restocking the lochs with more lively, hard-fighting fish to give everyone a good day’s sport.
