MORE great Golds for Inverawe

Gold Award Great Taste, Guild of Fine Food Retaillers Gold award

Inverawe has wone three new Great Taste Award Golds for our finest smoked fish products. Check out the website for more details. Here are some of the Judges comments…..

“Beautifully translucent and silky looking salmon with a lovely pale natural colour. One receives a good hit of smoke on the nose and on the palate but the smoking does not mask the good quality fish. It has a really good mouthfeel. There is a good balance to the smoke, and the flavour really develops in the mouth and lingers on the palate.”

Beautiful rose pink coloured salmon. Slices very well. Lovely sweet smokiness. Tender but firm salmon with a slight salty/sweet dimension. Delicious.

A nice looking piece of fish with a great colour. It has a lovely aroma from smoking, but is actually much heavier than the smoked flavour that we found in the fish. We enjoyed the moist texture, which wasn’t too oily.

Meet the Team – Ethel the Whizz Kid!

Monday, July 22nd, 2013

Meet Ethel, she’s been working here since 1998.  As well mum to four lovely children and a beautiful horse, Bo, who she is having great fun with,  Ethel still has time to work as our Marketing/IT/Website Administrator.

However she will turn her hand to anything including packing and working in the warehouse, she is the essential safe pair of hands during the nightshift at Christmas .  She is a complete whizz kid when it comes to anything technical.  Give her a problem that needs fixing and she’s your girl. Like a terrier she won’t give up till she’s worked it all out.  Ethel says she loves the diversity of working at Inverawe, “no day is ever the same”.

She lives in the quiet village of Appin, which is a good 40 minute drive from here.

Ethel’s five words which express what it is like to work in this mad house are:  busy, good laugh, large family.

One of the nicest memories she has is of Robert CP brining in a full cooked breakfast for the night shift at 4am each morning during the Christmas Rush.  She said “I don’t think Robert slept much over the weeks before Christmas Day.
